Juniperus communis

Juniper is associated with Jupiter and with the element of Metal, since the evocatively-scented berries contain significant amounts of tin.  It is also used as a dark of the moon incense and during the Yule.  Fire and Water are additional elemental correspondences.  A wonderful multipurpose ritual ingredient!

Uses for the Body.  Air can be purified, especially in houses where sickness is, by the burning of juniper.  The scent inspires physical strength and boosts the immune system.

Uses for the Mind. The berries of juniper improve memory and clarify thoughts.  They protect from the negativity and self-doubt that can damage your abilities.

Uses for the Spirit. Juniper is used as a sanctifying, purifying substance for smudging incenses and ritual baths.
