February 21st (Tuesday) 7-9pm
The Old Craft Discussion Group meets the 3rd Tuesday of every month at Eye of Horus Metaphysical in Minneapolis. You don't have to be old to study the roots of the craft . . . you just have to be willing to get your metaphorical hands dirty.
January Topic is the Visions of Isabel Gowdie: We will read from and discuss the confessions of Isobel Gowdie. Among historians, the confessions are celebrated for
providing a unique insight into the way fairy beliefs and witch beliefs
interacted in the early modern mind; more controversially, they are also
cited as evidence for the existence of Shamanistic visionary
traditions, of pre-Christian origin, in Scotland in this period.
NOTE: This is not a class, coven or circle. It is a Discussion Group centered on the Old (or Traditional) Craft, the B.G. (Before Gardner) indigenous witcheries of Old Europe, rooted in the Land and ancestral tradition.
The "I Can't Believe It's Already Legendary" Third Tuesday Old Craft Discussion Group has been breaking old taboos and new ground since June 2008, taking on the topics no one else will touch: Sacrifice, Cursing, and Old Hornie, to mention only a few of the more pungent. Every month we meet, a group of visionary elders and inspired neophytes, wholly committed to questioning everything, diving in deeper, and crafting for ourselves and our people the Witcheries of the future.
Our regular attendees constitute a virtual "Who's Who" of the Elders of Paganistan; at any given session, it's not unusual for us to have several hundred years of collective Craft experience to draw on. This rich variety of viewpoints yields deep and often surprising insights into what it means to live the Craft today, yesterday, and tomorrow.
Caveat:
If you already know everything there is to know about the Craft--
If you've read everything Silver Ravenwolf ever wrote--
If you figured everything out in 1986 and haven't entertained a new thought since then--
this is DEFINITELY not the group for you!
