Völva is a reclaimed word from Old Norse which means staff carrier.

You will learn the history of the staff carrying tradition, align with the world tree, explore your spiritual bodies, and journey through the nine worlds of Yggdrasil. You will understand how to attain a state of seidr to use in galdr, spae, herbalism, journey and ritual. Völva is a reclaimed word from Old Norse which means staff carrier.

The women and men who were Völvas and Viktis carried their healing, far-seeing, ceremonial, and magical practice throughout Scandinavia and the Baltic. Kari has learned this tradition through study of archeology, runes and written texts (Eddas and Sagas), practice of her folk traditions, stories and songs and through direct contact with her ancestors and disr using Völva Stav. Völva Stav is Kari's system for teaching and practicing the staff carrying tradition.

Völva Stav is the culmination of a life time of discipline in spiritual, musical, and martial arts, Norse cosmology, theology, and metaphysics. It's essential goal is to create alignment with the world tree, perceive and heal the oorlog. Healing patterns of Inherited Cultural Grief inherent in all cultures severed from their deep root traditions, is essential for creating a healed future for our children. About Kari Tauring, MA

Kari has performed throughought the midwest. The otherworldly sound of kulning and lokking, cow calling vocals of the setterjente (upland herding girls) and the Huldre (cow-tailed fairy women) waft over the fairgrounds. Tauring's presentations compel us to listen. Medieval rune songs, passages from the sagas, Huldre Lokk, Stav rhythm and dance weave through masterful story telling.

Author of "The Runes: A Human Journey" 2007 (available on line, through Ingebretsen's and the Eye of Horus in Minneapolis and from the author), Tauring's presentations and workshops stem from 20 years of research, teaching, and performance. Her shows are interactive and can be solo or very large productions. Schools, lodges, and weekend work shop programs are available. With a Masters Degree in teaching, Tauring's programs appeal to all ages and levels of learning.

Her CD "Völva Songs" (6 song EP released May 2008) gives listeners music in Votic, Icelandic, Norwegian and English that is sweet as a lullaby and frightening as a Valkyrie. Her performances are intense and impeccable (cd available on-line, in select stores and at performances).
